State Convention Scheduled
The Libertarian Party of Alabama State Convention will be held April 19th and 20th in Birmingham, at the BJCC. We've already got a great start on the speaker line-up, including former Congressman Bob Barr, Stuart Carter of Free the Hops, former LP gubernatorial candidate Loretta Nall, Alabama House Rep. Cam Ward, and former Alabama Ron Paul Field Director Shana Kluck as speakers. UPDATE: Loretta Nall will be unable to attend. In her place, Dan Roberts of DailyDixie.com will be speaking.
We are trying to keep the cost of this convention as low as humanly possible while providing quality speakers in a quality auditorium. Thanks to the hard work of our convention committee, we've managed to get the price down to $25 for both days.

Loretta Nall's Case has been DISMISSED!
LPA member Dr. Mark Thornton has been tubed!
On March 20, a federal court held a hearing on an Alabama ballot access case. The court heard argument that the high petition signature requirement (~40,000) together with the early deadline are too great a burden for third parties and independents. Richard Winger's web site ballot-access.org has a cautiously upbeat writeup on the hearing.
Loretta Nall had a letter-to-the-editor published in the Mobile Press-Register. Also see her 2006 Year in Review summarizing her run for Governor last year.
Dick Clark has moved to Boston MA, leaving his position as our state chair. His able leadership will be sorely missed. Read his parting letter of encouragement to the LPA.
